I’ve been riding for as long as I can remember having born into a horsy family at Tingewick, Buckinghamshire. I am now based at the adjoining Glebe Farm in Finmere. My first ever pony was bought for me when she was a foal and I was a 6month old baby. ‘Amy’ was a grey miniature Shetland who stayed with us until she died recently aged 29. She was a great pony who used to come into the kitchen some days with me and she’d go to the local Hunt Meet in the back of my dads Land rover!
I have always competed in show jumping since I was on leading rein! My 13.2 pony Pepsi’s Pet was the pony to take me into BSJA jumping at the age of 10. I jumped on my first England Team at the age of 16 in Cavan, where we won team gold and I won an individual class.
When I moved onto horses I had a grade A called Busy Lizzie (see youngsters), who I qualified for HOYS in the Under 18’s and Under 21’s and she taught me to jump the bigger tracks.
I started producing horses for Valerie Redbart when I was 20, and then I rode a good team of horses for Ann and Colin Garratt, including Sumas Oscar with whom I was on the British Young Riders squad.
It was through the Garratt’s and Tim Stockdale that I came to buy Opportunity B, who has been so successful for me. She has won me a Foxhunter Final, 13 International Trials, Hartpury Victor Ludorum, 3 Nations Cups and many other successes.
I breed, break and produce many horses from yard hoping to find another Opportunity B somewhere amongst them! I qualified Naomi V for the 2008 Foxhunter Final, so I’m hoping she will continue to be successful in the years to come!
